Midnight Conversation

Chuck shook his head. "No, he's in a business meeting with the senior partners of Wolfram and Hart. They're his law firm."

'Oh, good." She said. "And I won't judge you for what you've told me - what Serena told me."

"Thank you. That means a lot." He said sincerely. "So, tell me more about Henry. How did you two come to spend so much time together?"

Diana blushed, "Well, he started to write notes for me, that told me to meet him places. We'd usually meet in his green house. But a few times, he showed up outside my bedroom. Then we started to get feelings for each other." She shrugged.

Chuck nodded. "And he had something to do with you being a Potential, didn't he?" He looked at her with an amused smile.

" I don't know what you're talking about." She lied.

"Being half demon comes with some of the perks of being a demon. Sniffing out Slayers and Potentials is one of them." Chuck informed her.

She sighed. "He was my watcher."

Chuck nodded. "My father has his watcher's journal. You were never mentioned specifically by name. It said that you disappeared and that was that."

"I've never really thought about how me being here affected the past." She said, 'So, that's what happens, to them I just disappeared? " Diana frowned.

Chuck nodded. "According to the journal, yes. They had a funeral and everything. The casket was empty of course."

"Poor Mother must have been heartbroken." She said. "I feel so guilty."

"It's not like you did it." Chuck said. "I highly doubt you had any control over coming here."

Diana nodded and said, 'Do you think I'm here for a reason? That's what Haley thinks."

Chuck nodded. "I do. I've always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason."

"Do you think I could be what Mr. Fletcher said?" Diana asked.

"The Slayer?" He asked before taking a few moments to think about it. "I could, but it may mess things up."

"Mess what up?" She asked.

He set down his water and looked at her. "When one Slayer dies, another one is Called. If you're here, then that means you're the next in line to be Called, or at least one would assume anyway."

"That means I could never go back home,' She said. "I'd have to stay here, in this time?"

Chuck shrugged. "I have no idea how that would work. I would assume that if you were to go back home, it would be the same as if you died so some other girl would be Called, but that's just a guess."

"I see." She said.

"Did your family know about you? Did they know that you were a potential?"

Diana thought for a minute. "I don't know. I mean, my mother was very much a skeptic. So she either did not know, or denied it. And my father, he died before I knew."

Chuck nodded slowly. "It's a lonely life. Or at least, that's what I've gathered. It makes sense why your mother would deny it. No one wants to see their child go through something like that."
