"I was ripped from a different hell and brought here." And once he hit 18 he was going to start driving and never look back towards the East Coast ever again. "And there aren't that many decent people to meet here." Not that he was decent depending on who you talked to. Most thought he was some sort of sociopath. "Your accent sounded pretty authentic." She leaned in with a warm smile tilting her head as she bobbed on the balls of her feet, "Georgia baby, and don't you forget it." She leaned back looking him over, "I think I heard a bit of a different tone in yours...but I might've mistaken it for something else. Where are you from?"

"Baton Rouge," he said with a slow smile. "Born and raised." And ran like hell. He slipped the books across the desk and waited for the slip to print out. "Three weeks from now. If you need to renew them, let me know, okay? Like you said, this is where I spend most of my time."

She smiled at him. "Well, if you call there home, here home or the cot you plan on putting in the back home, I'll be back in three weeks to return the books. Possibly sooner. I have an empty apartment and it usually means I am sitting staring at blank walls most of the night while waiting for the paint to dry." She tucked the books gingerly in her bag before slipping the card in her pocket. "What's your name?"

"Jack," he said with a grin. "Nice to meet you..." His eyes darted to the computer screen. "Taylor. And what color are you painting your walls?"

"Sunset from the baseboards into a night sky on the ceiling." She smiled, "So am I allowed back in the library despite my clumsy nature? Or should I leave my books at the door with a list of titles I want for my next check out?"

"You're allowed back in until you set something on fire," he said with shake of his head. "Or attempt to knock over the shelves a la The Mummy." That had been a pain in the ass to clean up...
