You ran? You were kissing the guy that half of the girls want and you ran. Do we need an emergency Ledger and ice cream night?

DEAR GOD YES. And tons of booze.

Vanessa rang the doorbell and held the movies in her hand. "Open up skank." She yelled as she pounded on the door.

Flinging open the door, she pressed a solo cup into her friend's hand. "It's wine but I haven't done dishes."

She gave Bri the movies and downed the wine, "Fine. I really don't care. Start the movie." When she was inside, Vanessa reached in her purse and pulled out a deck of cards. "Lookie what I brought."

Bri shut the door behind Vanessa. "Oh, your broken Tarot cards," she laughed as she popped the movie into the DVD player. "Which one is this, by the way?" She snatched a glass of wine for herself off of the counter and settled on the couch.

"Ten Things." Vanessa responded. "Nothing can possibly be wrong with Heath smiling that gorgeous smile." She sighed dreamily.

She nodded. "True that, sister. So what types of things can I ask these magic cards of yours?" She tilted her head to the side and heard her neck crack loudly.

Vanessa winced. "You know I hate when you do that. And anything, I guess. I don't really ask the cards, they just sort of guide me. There is this one lady that's really good with this kind of stuff. You're going to laugh when I tell you though."

"Sorry," she said, unrepentant. "You know how my joints get closer to the full moon. I'll try to keep it to a minimum." She shifted on the couch so she was watching Vanessa more than the movie. "And who?"

Vanessa laughed and poured herself some more wine, "Blair's maid Derota. She's a gypsy and knows all sorts of gypsy remedies and curses and stuff. She's really cool."

She stared with a disbelieving grin for a moment before laughing. "Nice. So, do you mind letting them 'guide you'," she asked, putting up the bunny ear quotes, "to see if I'm going to get a decent night's sleep anytime soon?"

Vanessa put down her wine and began shuffling her cards. "Sure. What's been keeping you awake?"

She took a long pull from her glass with a frown. "I want to run. Like actually get out somewhere that's green and run." And hunt, she wanted to add but she wasn't going to freak her friend out like that. "And it's making it hard to settle. Let alone sleep."

Vanessa nodded and played with the cards. She laid out three and looked at them then put them away. "I didn't get anything. The cards aren't working."

"Nothing at all," she asked, raising an eyebrow before sighing. "All right." She shrugged and picked back up her glass. "Thanks for trying. Sorry your cards are broken."

Vanessa nodded but didn't say anything. She felt kind of guilty about lying to her best friend.

Taking another pull of her wine, Bri stared at the television. "You know," she said idly, "you humans smell different when you're lying."

Vanessa took a long swig of her wine, "I'm not lying."

Nodding, Bri pushed herself from the chair. "I'm hungry. You want something to munch? I think I've got popcorn."

Vanessa nodded, "The cards said you were going to meet your mate. And from the looks of it, it's someone unexpected."

She stopped before turning to stare at her friend. Then she began to laugh, nearly bending over. "That's hilarious. Your cards really are broken, aren't they," she snickered as she grabbed a bag of popcorn from the cabinet. "Tell me more about this unexpected mate."
